Magic/Replace is a web based tool to clean up data easily. It enables the user to copy data from a spreadsheet, csv (comma separated file), or a TSV (tab separated file) and make changes to all of the rows at once.

For example, if you had a column of data that contained a phone number without separators (1234567890), you could easily change the contents to be formatted to include separators (123-456-7890).

Magic/Replace will also change the case of the data in a field.

You would use Excel or some other more powerful tool for major data cleanup. However, Magic/Replace works well and is quick for simple data cleanup. Magic/Replace is brought to you by Dabble DB – an easy way to create online databases.

Like a big catfish going after a dough ball, folks are snapping up malware like it’s a $20 bill blowing across a parking lot. Specifically, we’re talking about the old “Antivirus XP”, which is now making the rounds re-branded as “Antivirus Plus”.

Behold…

System Tray

Desktop Icon

Fake Infection Alert

And I’d be willing to bet there are entries in the Quick Launch bar and start menu as well.

ATTENTION PLANET EARTH!

** Antivirus XP 2008, 2009 and Antivirus Plus are SPYWARE! **

They are not helpful programs, and you certainly shouldn’t give these folks your credit card number, OK??

Scroll down for removal instructions. Thank you!

According to Kevin, our old pal Malwarebytes still gets rid of this nasty. Thanks for the heads-up Kev!

Xoopit installs itself just above your Gmail inbox area. It also allows integration with Facebook, blogs, and other social tools.

Xoopit also will send you email summaries of all photos, files, and videos in your Gmail account.

Another benefit is Xoopit provides Xobni (for Outlook) type information on the sender of the message. This includes all attachments received from the sender as well as quick searches of other emails from that sender.

There appears to be thousands of publications on Scribd. A lot of them are self published, however, I did find some published books that have been uploaded to Scribd.

I do not know yet if this service will add value to the end user or not. It is an interesting idea though.

Dashwire is a free mobile phone contact, photo, video, and text messaging tool. It works on phones running Windows Mobile and symbian OS. It syncs your phones contents to the web and allows you to manipulate the data via a web browser.

I use Dashwire often to answer text messages because I can use the computer keyboard instead of the phone text input – which for me is quicker. I can also update contacts via the web interface with ease.

Other features I use is the ability to view, save, and forward pictures that I take with my phone.

Other things you can do with Dashwire includes seeing a list of all of your conversations (text messages), change the phone ringtone, set up speeddial for your phone, update your Dashwire, Facebook, and / or Twitter status, manage your mobile internet bookmarks, and manage videos you take with your phone.

The best thing is that Dashwire is free.

The only downside to Dashwire (at least on a Windows Mobile device) is that it speeds up battery consumption. This is in part because it is in constant contact with dashwire.com so that the phone and the web site are in sync.
